2014年4月25日,北京大学信息管理系主办了主题为“BROADBAND ETHICS”——Understanding the Ethical Impacts of History’s Most Powerful Technology的讲座。主讲人是哈佛大学教授Craig Warren Smith博士,我院2013级研究生牛丽慧参加了此次讲座。
Smith教授的主讲内容为:
1. What is “ethics?” What is “broadband?” What is the operational definition of “broadband ethics?”
2. The arising of “applied ethics” in the digital age:
Bioethics, media ethics, information ethics – what can be learned from understanding their evolution. How broadband transcends these fields.
3. Three possible ethical impacts of broadband: Dystopian, Utopian, and “Middle Way” Impacts.
4. The problem of “technological determinism” and the obstacles to shaping ethical impacts of the internet: implications for regulators, for technology designers, for academic researchers.
5. The arising of the new field of broadband ethics: research agendas, methodologies, journals, networks, publications, and funding.
6. A Chinese perspective on broadband ethics:
7. Proposed Broadband Ethics Research Group in China (in partnership with foreign universities, e.g. Chulalongkorn University, Harvard University, National Taiwan University.
